How do you advertise a random product to a super niche audience? That was the primary question I started with when delving into this social media campaign. My task was to market Pokémon plushies to the punk rock community. The slogan? “Every rock type needs their rock type”. My vision was to grugify the Pokémon brand, stepping away from their typically child-like marketing strategy and relying solely on the product and subtle brand clues to aid in the audience's understanding. I ended up using “rock type” Pokémon to create a strong connection between audiences, leaning on photography, editing, and typography to push my message even further.
